Cute Costumes and Ugly Teeth

Last Saturday my girl's PawPaw had a fall festival at his dealership.  So what did we do?  Dressed up in some cute costumes and headed out to have fun.  Over in our part of this beautiful country it's still in the 80s most of the time, so it was a little warm out, not the typical fall weather for this time of year, but the girls were good sports and they looked too cute!  We don't take our girls trick or treating or participate in halloween parties, but I do allow them to dress up for this event every year.

Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader, Flower, and Cat (she took her ears off).  All my girls have now worn this flower costume.

The girls loved the train ride...

...only when I rode with them.  Those little carts are not made for adults especially when little ones are piled up on your legs!  Lilah and Celeste entered the costume contest, and Celeste won a first place prize.  She was so excited.

It was about 80 degrees out so snowcones sounded great...

Lilah and Celeste played a game, and won some pretty ugly teeth, which of course they loved!

Gross I know, but now they know why it's important to brush and floss!

Happy Birthday Mom!

The pretty lady in this picture is my wonderful, loving, very young mother, and today is her Birthday!  She is my best (girl) friend, my favorite shopping partner, and my "go-to" person for every question I have in life.  She knows everything there is to know, and I am so blessed to have her as my mom.  She raised me in a loving home where I have only perfect and wonderful memories.  I am so thankful she loves me as much as she does.  She is Mom to me, and Grandma, Ma, Nana, Mimi, and sometimes Mom to my girls.  They love her unconditionally, and so do I.  So on this very special October 22, 2009 I want to wish you Mom, a very very Happy Birthday, and may God bless you with many many more to come!  You are the absolute best!

The Lord Is My Shepherd

I enjoyed reading the front cover of our church bulletin, and I wanted to share with you...

The Lord is my Shepherd...
THAT'S RELATIONSHIP!
I shall not want...
THAT'S SUPPLY!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures...
THAT'S REST!
He leadeth me beside the still waters...
THAT'S REFRESHMENT!
He restoreth my soul...
THAT'S HEALING!
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness...
THAT'S GUIDANCE!
For His name's sake...
 THAT'S PURPOSE!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death...
THAT'S TESTING!
I will fear no evil...
THAT'S PROTECTION!
For Thou art with me...
THAT'S FAITHFULNESS!
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me...
THAT'S DISCIPLINE!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies...
THAT'S HOPE!
Thou annointest my head with oil...
THAT'S CONSECRATION!
My cup runneth over...
THAT'S ABUNDANCE!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life...
THAT'S BLESSING!
And I will dwell in the house of the lord...
THAT'S SECURITY!
For ever...
THAT'S ETERNITY!

Scarecrow Pumpkin

Every year my daughter's school assigns each student to decorate a pumpkin at home and then bring it to school to decorate the hallways.  The catch is that we can't carve or puncture the pumpkin in any way because of obvious smell issues or bug issues.  We did our pumkin last night, and I have to say, I think it is so cute and perfect for fall!

The pictures are a little small.  They were taken from my cell phone.  Camera is MIA again!

Favorite Things Friday!

Congrats...Charlotte Ann!  E-mail me CHomeDesigns@aol.com  and give me your info.

Yankee Candles- Be Thankful

Wow....how long has it been since I have done a Favorite Things Friday post?  Too long.  I promise I will try to post one every Friday from here on out! (fingers crossed)  I went to a really cute boutique yesterday to look for a gift for my mother, and I passed by the Yankee Candle display, and I HAD to stop because I am completely obsessed with fall smelling candles, and I don't have enough self control to not buy one my pumpkin spice candle from last year just ran out!  This candle in particular is called "Be Thankful".  I thought my pumkin spice candle smelled great, but this one beats it by far.

I also bought a fall looking glass shade from the Yankee Candle store in Florida last year and it looks great on my new candle.

This particular one is not the same as the shade I bought, but very similar, and just as pretty.  And guess what?  One you could win a "Be Thankful" Yankee candle just in time for fall.  I just happen to have an extra one just sitting around waiting to find a home.  Just leave me a comment and write a 2 page essay on why you think you should be the winner...no not really...I'm kidding.  Just leave a comment and I will pick a number randomly, and announce the winner Monday afternoon!

Readers- you have a REALLY good chance of winning because this blog is not super duper popular with thousands of readers, so your chances are great!  Good Luck and have a great weekend!

Have you ever heard that children's song?  My parents used to sing that to me when I was a child.  I sing it to mine now.  Oh, how my baby Nene loves puppies and doggies.  That's what she calls them.  She carries around everywhere a little black poodle (in the pics next to her).  She threw her puppy in the bathtub the other night.  She gives her puppy her cup, and she fed her puppy grapes.  I bought her this outfit from Gymboree about a month ago, and guess who picked it up first?  She did.  She handed it to me and said puppy.  She loves to look at all the dogs on her shirt.  Sometimes in the middle of the night she will wake to the neighbor's dog barking, and she will sit up and say....doggies.  While I am writing this she is sitting on my lap with her puppy.  Does your child have a favorite toy?

Kentucky Derby Hat

I'm not really into horse races.  Well not at all.  I'll tell you what I am really into is the fabulous dresses and hats that the ladies wear at the Kentucky derby.  They are just so beautiful and unique.  I'm not brave enough to even wear a simple straw hat the the beach, although I love hats for my girls.  So when I picked up Celeste from school today I saw a gorgeous hat hanging from her hook.  She told me she made it, and I have to say....it's really pretty.

I'm not sure what it's made out of or how they made it, but I'm impressed.  So what did I do?  Told her how gorgeous it was and I had to have a photo shoot with the girls.

Don't you think they would be best dressed at the Kentucky derby?
