School Shopping Success!

School starts Aug. 24. That's less than a month away, and I have 2 girls this year that are going to school. Lilah will be in 1st grade, and Celeste will go to pre-school 3 days a week. So, school shopping is a must! On Wednesday, I packed up my girls and headed to the mall to get some clothes and shoe shopping done. I was at the mall at 9:55, and waiting for my favorite store to open because they were having the best sale ever, and I had an extra 20 % off coupon! Let me just tell you that things went horrible. My children ran around crazy, pulled things off the racks, fought with each other, and acted very naughty. I quickly gathered them up, and headed straight out the door of the store and mall with nothing accomplished. I was so embarrassed and frustrated. I'll just say when we got home, the girls had to go straight to bed and take a nap. I then worked up the courage to go yesterday, and it was soooo much better. I had very well behaved little girls who listened to their mama! We got so much accomplished, and we got everything they need for school.

Lilah is at the age where she likes to pick out her own clothes, and doesn't like a thing that I like. So she told me that Gymboree is a baby store, and she didn't like it anymore. My mouth dropped and I wanted to cry. What did she mean "a baby store". I love this store how could she not like it anymore? Well anyway I still managed to get her to like this outfit...

and Celeste got the same outfit plus this dress that I loved...

My next stop was Lilah's new favorite "non-babyish" store, and this is just some of the many things she got to pick out...

The Children's Place was next, and here is just some of things I picked out for Celeste...

We went to a few more stores with no problem, and them my favorite stop....SHOES!!! Last year we went to the Stride Rite's buy 1 get 1 50% off sale, and stocked up, and those shoes lasted them most of the school year. So this year we did it again and got some of these...

You can never go wrong with plain white Keds...They go with everything! Then I picked out these pink ones...

and finally I let the girls pick out one pair that they really liked, and they picked out the same...

Not what I would have picked, but they loved them, and they look cute wearing them. We went to a couple of stores after this, and then after almost 4 hours we were headed home with a successful school shopping day!

Fun Day Friday

Texas State Aquarium

Since summer is here and Lilah is out of school I try to do as many fun things through out the week to keep their little hands busy. Instead of Favorite things Friday, this week will be Fun Day Friday. I will post on either one every week. Today's post is coming a little late because I have been soooo busy today. We slept in a little bit this morning (8:30 late for me) and got ready to go to the Texas State Aquarium. Since Corpus Christi is a small city there is not really much to do, but the aquarium is a lot of fun and the girls love it. We met grandma there and as soon as we got there the girls were in need of a potty break (never fails). So here is Trinity waiting for her sisters to hurry up.

I wanted to get a nice picture of my girls in front of this wall, but after several pictures this was all I could get.

Celeste found the seahorses and she turned to me and said "look mamma, I see the sweehorses". So cute, we had to take a picture.

We walked by a large fish tank and much to our surprise there was a man feeding the fish from inside the tank and he stopped to say hello to the girls. They loved it.

At our next stop we found Nemo and all his friends. Again, the picture turned out crazy...the girls wouldn't be still, they were too excited.

Then Trinity decided to take a break for a sip of a lime sonic slush.

Finally we made our way to Dolphin Bay to see the dolphin show. We waited...

and waited...
And finally it began...Trinity was more interested in eating her snack than looking at the dolphins. (I tried to get the girls with the dolphins jumping, so you have to look closely)

Then we had some fun on the playground...

As we were leaving I wanted a picture of my girls in front of the aquarium with the harbor bridge in the back. Again, not everyone was looking. Its ok...they still look beautiful.

We had such a fun day, and it was a great way to start off the summer. I look forward to many more days like this with the girls.

One more thing...when we got home they sky looked like this...

and we got some much needed rain. I even heard thunder and saw lightning. Praise the Lord!
