First Hair Cut

Yesterday I was sitting at my desk checking my e-mail when I noticed that my house got very quiet fast! I went into Celeste's room and she seemed to be fine just playing with toys. So I thought, "ok she's fine". I started to cook dinner, and for some reason I needed something from the "junk drawer". When I opened drawer I saw it....the reason why my daughter was soooo quiet earlier. I saw a beautiful lock of her curly hair. I have NEVER cut her hair because it is so beautiful, and it grew all one length, unlike my oldest daughter whose hair grows different even now. I grabbed the hair and ran to her to make sure there wasn't major damage. She showed me where she cut her hair...and I had to take a picture.

It actually doesn't look that bad. I'm just sooo thankful she didn't wack off all her hair.

Someone Had A Birthday!

My husband, daughter, and myself all have a birthday within 2 weeks of each other, and last Friday it was my day to turn 1 year older. In case your are wondering the big number was 27! I know I'm still young, and I haven't reached that age yet when you don't comment when someone asks how old you are. This is a picture of me 26 years ago at my first birthday party. My baby looks like me...I think.

Friday was the last day of VBS for my girls so I took the time to get a hair cut, something I do every year on my birthday. It is not a big change, just a few inches off the bottom and a bang trim. My girls passed pink eye to each other a couple of weeks ago, and guess what they gave me for my birthday? PINK EYE! Yuk! So after my hair cut I went to the doctor to get some medicine so my eye would look normal again. After I picked up my girls we met my parents and husband at my favorite Mexican restaurant. I told my mother not to tell them it was my birthday for a very important reason. I have seen in the past people wearing a big sombrero on their head while the whole place sings a birthday song. I would always laugh and think about how embarrassing that would be. After our meal I heard the dreaded sound...tambourines. And then I saw the sombrero and I knew I was in trouble...

(Please excuse my daughter while she is digging for gold). My face turned red and I was soooo embarrassed. Next time I will pick a place where they don't sing!

On Saturday the family got together for a fish fry at my mother's house to celebrate my birthday and my husband's. This is a picture of my husband and daughter filleting the fish before he fried it.

and a few I took of the girls playing on our boat and in the yard...

Then we all ate...

and ate...

and ate...

...and then we had cake!

I had a wonderful birthday, and look forward to many more to come. Now, we have a very special "Pinkalicious" birthday party this Friday for a beautiful little girl who is turning 6!

Show Us Where You Live Friday

It's Friday again, and Kelly over at Kelly's Korner is hosting Show Us Where You Live Friday. The room for today is master bedrooms. This will probably be my last one for a while. I need to get back to my Favorite Things Friday, or Fun Day Friday!

My Master bedroom was one of the last rooms I decorated. I just couldn't really find anything that I really loved, but after finishing the rest of the house I used what I had left over, and I think it turned out well.

We bought our furniture about 6 years ago, and I love it! I really wanted to buy something nice that will last us forever.

I go through bedspreads so fast. With three small children all sorts of things end up on the blankets, but I actually found this one at Wal-Mart on sale for $80! I love it and I found the animal print pillows at Hobby Lobby 1/2 off. I think I got both of them for $24.

I had the lamp on the side table, and when I bought this bedspread I wanted to dress it up to match. I bought black trim and a tassel from Hobby Lobby.

On my dresser I have my favorite pictures of my girls and family. Some pictures will stay, and I switch out the others as they grow.

I had this rod iron wall decoration over my sofa, but when I put a painting in its place I found the perfect place in my room for it.

My husbands dresser is to the left in this picture, nothing interesting on top just a TV. I used to have these crosses at my first apartment before I got married and I have had them since. I put them on an empty wall in our room.

And finally the decoration above my bed is another find from Hobby Lobby.

Well I hope you enjoyed this quick tour of my master bedroom.

See you next week for Favorite Things Friday!

Houston Trip

My camera has been found!!!! My husband found it in his work truck under a bunch of stuff on the side door. I wonder how it got there? Maybe two little girls who were playing in there know. Anyway, I was so happy because I had some really great pictures on the camera from our trip to Houston. Today will be a catch up post from our trip from 2 weeks ago!

My cousin Katherine was graduating from high school, and we couldn't miss it. We rode in my mother's car, and I'm not quite sure if she knew what she was getting herself into when she volunteered to take her car. These are the girls at the start of the drive (it's only about a 3 hour drive...not bad).

That's about as good as I could get. After a little bit of playing with tissue and a lot of crying...

Trinity finally fell asleep along with her sister...I think grandma was relieved!

After arriving and visiting for a while we took the girls on a walk in the wagon, and they loved it!

They loved it so much they played with the doll wagon in the house...

Celeste woke up the next morning ready to go swimming...

After a morning at the splash pad it was time for the graduation. I stayed home with Celeste and Trinity because they were in much need of a nap, and would have never made it through 1,000 names being called out. As they napped I got to watch the ceremony on TV. My cousin Christina and Lilah were getting restless in their seats so my mom took pictures of them while they were waiting.

After the ceremony was over Lilah posed with Katherine and her graduation hat.

Congratulations Katherine, and good luck in college!

Show Us Where You Live Friday

Laundry Room/Bathroom

Well it's time again for another room of Kelly's Korner Home Tour. Today is laundry rooms. My laundry room is actually in my bathroom. Again, we are limited on space in this house, and the laundry room wasn't in the original house, so my husband had to add it. Since I missed bathrooms last week because my camera is MIA, I am going to do both because they go "together".

In the corner of this picture is the opening to my laundry/bathroom "before"...

It's yuk, I know. The first time I looked at this house I told my husband we wasted our money, and this house needed to be burned down or torn down. (I'm totally joking about burning it down) He told me to trust him and I'm glad I did because this is what it looks like now...

My "laundry room" is hiding behind those doors. It's not much of a room, more like a closet, but good enough for now!

My cabinets have not been built yet to go over my washer and drier, so laundry baskets will do the job.

This is the shower area...inside are a lot of bath toys!

When we started on the bathroom I wanted a glass sink sooooo bad. BAD CHOICE! It shows everything and I clean it everyday. Next time I will go with something other than clear glass.

Well, that's all for now. Have a Blessed Day!

"Not Me!" Monday

"Not Me!" Monday was started by MckMama, you can read about it here on her blog. I always read them, but have never wrote one myself although it wouldn't be too hard for me with 3 small children. So here I go...my first "Not Me!" Monday post. (don't judge...most mammas know where I am coming from)

This last week we went to Houston for my cousin's graduation and I took the girls to the neighborhood pool to play. I DID NOT forget to put the baby in a swimming diaper, and I certainly DID NOT totally ignore the big sign on the wall that said "NO disposable diapers". After she was done playing I DID NOT ignore the other mom's stares when they saw her saggy diaper.

On the way to Houston the baby was crying in the back seat, and was driving my mom crazy. I DID NOT hand her a can of Dr. Pepper so she would stop crying. I would never do anything like that.

I DID NOT let my two older daughters swim although they had pink eye, and I would NEVER feed them hot dogs for lunch 3 days in a row! Nope NOT ME!!

And finally while writing this post I DID NOT ignore the fact that my 3 year old was trying the change the cover on the changing table because it had poopie on it. I DID NOT let the baby run around in her diaper, and I would NEVER let Celeste wear a bikini around the house. No NEVER! I also DID NOT just ignore the girls drawing on their belly's with markers this morning.

Still No Camera

See this picture....

This is how I feel. My camera mysteriously disappeared from my husbands truck. Originally it got left in my mother's purse, and then she put it in my husband's truck. Well, two very well behaved, beautiful, never get in trouble girls, were the last ones to see it. I have asked each one "WHERE IS MY CAMERA?" All they do is stare at me with their lovely green and brown eyes, and say "I don't know". I can just imagine it is somewhere in the shrubs that line the fence, or in a secret spot where they hide all their things, or it could be in a trash can somewhere.

So to my camera: you were great, and did the job, but you are now going to have to be replaced with a new one.

Little Update

Last weekend my mother, my girls, and myself went to Houston to visit family, and to attend my cousin's graduation. I made the decision to stay at the house instead of trying to keep two little girls still for about 3 hours while they called out almost 1000 kids names. I handed my camera to my mom and asked her to take pictures for me. Well she did, and kept my camera (not on purpose). So here I am sitting in front of my computer with no pictures and a lot of words to say. I haven't blogged in about 5 days and I'm going crazy. So if anyone reads this little blog please wait for a new post I promise an interesting one is coming (tonight fingers crossed).

Also, here is a random favorite picture, because I can't put up a boring post without a cute picture.

If you get hot this summer...just cool off like Trinity!

Show Us Where You Live Friday

Home Office

Kelly's Korner is hosting Show Us Where You Live Friday, and today's tour is of home offices. I was originally not going to do this one because I really haven't done anything to decorate this part of my house. This room serves as a nursery, playroom, and office. Eventually it will be Lilah's room when we add on. I decided to show this room because we spend a lot of time in here. I love to blog, read blogs, read the news, and shop online. My girls usually play with the toys right next to the desk. We also have our own home building/ remodeling business so everything is planned and organized here. So here is my (temporary) office.

This is our desk and sitting area...

Our desk is actually a kitchen table. My mother bought this at an unfinished furniture store and had it stained black. We love it because it is large enough to put everything on top.

We have a small white shelf on the side that holds the printer at the top, fisher price cool school for my girls, estimate/invoice papers for the business, and a collection of Southern Living, Better Homes and Garden, Paula Deen, and Texas Fish & Game (not mine!) magazines. Also in there is my husbands book from The School of Christ which he attended in 2005.

On top of my desk is my little corner with my basket and organizer of bills and important things I can't forget about (although I would love to forget about the bills).

The other corner of the desk has my husband's Bibles, and Sunday school book. The cross behind it was made by Teen Challenge here in south Texas. I found this stone with Psalm 23 on it and I loved it and thought it would be great here. My husband has studied and prayed here for countless hours while preparing for sermons or Sunday school lessons.

When my girls took their Easter pictures I had this mouse pad made, and I told the girls they better not even think about writing on it...well that didn't happen. If you look at the very bottom Lilah drew a picture of a "mouse" on it.

My husband's friend, who is a pastor in Thailand, gave me this hand painted box that came from his hometown in Thailand. I think it is so beautiful, and I keep it on my desk as a reminder to pray for his church on the other side of the world. It also holds all our pencils, and pens.

This sofa is supposed to be in our living room, but It didn't fit, so its new home for the time being is here in the office. Next to it is my box full of girl clothes I need to list on e-bay. Behind it is my sewing machine that really needs to get some use (maybe soon!).

In a corner next to my desk I put all the "baby" toys there. They don't always look this nice and neat. They are usually all over the floor.

Well I hope you enjoyed our home office. I believe next week is bathrooms...See ya then.
