Celebrating Trinity's First Year of Life

On April 17, 2008 our third daughter was born at 9:55 am weighing 6lbs 5oz, and 19 inches long. She was born rather quickly and peacefully. We named her Trinity Aurelia. Aurelia is my grandma's name. My grandma has gone on to be with the Lord, and I wanted to honor her by naming my daughter after her. Moments after Trinity's birth the nurses realized that she was having trouble breathing on her own. After many tests and x-rays the doctors told us she had PPH (persistent pulmonary hypertension), and two small holes in her heart. This wasn't life threatening to her like it sounds, but she was having trouble transitioning to breathing on her own outside of the womb. She remained in the NICU for 8 long days. All we could do was pray, and let God work.

During these days she learned to breath and nurse on her own. One hole in her heart closed, and the other will close eventually on its own. She had two check-ups with the cardiologist since her birth and he said she is completely healthy and is not due to go back until the age of 3! Praise God! We were so excited the day she was able to come home from the hospital. We all got dressed up to pick her up.

Trinity's baby dedication was on Father's Day at our home church in Corpus Christi. This was a very special day because in front of God, our pastor, and church family we dedicated her back to the Lord, and promised to always raise her according to God's word.

During her first year of life she has gone many places and experienced many things. She went to her first church youth camp at 6 weeks old!

She traveled all the way to Sandestin, FL to go the the beach when she was 4 months old!

She went back to Florida to Disney World to meet Cinderella when she was 8 months old!

She met a dolphin at the Texas State Aquarium!

And she even learned to play the piano in church! Well almost!

On April 18 (one day after her actual birthday) we had her first birthday party! We had lots of fun with food, family, friends, and cake! This candle holder was actually mine that was on my first birthday cake. My mom gave it to me after all these years, and I wanted to use it for Trinity's birthday.

Trinity's first bite of her cake!

Mmmmm....tastes good!

All done...and messy!

I am so thankful for this precious little girl that God has blessed us with. She is such a joy to have in our family and I am looking forward to all the many years with her and her sisters!

Jessica,
this was a good post! I remember seeing NeNe in the NICU and how fast and hard her little chest was moving up and down trying to breathe; and look at her now! I think that was neat that you used your first birthday candle on her first birthday cake. She had a great party, well minus all the bites on my legs. lol!
